I Just Updated To Version 4.0 And the link Styles Do Not look The Same
We reworked the plugin so we could add new features and some of the css classes had to be changed
Full list is on the documentation page: http://www.wplinkspage.com/documentation/
Please feel free to let us know and we will be happy to help get your links looking the same as they did before the update.
Upgrading From Pro Version 3.3 To Pro Version 4.0
This is a major update! There are lots of new features and the admin interface has been completely redesigned.
We strongly recommend backing up your site before upgrading.
Installation and activation will work as usual. However the old Pro Version 3.3 and the new 4.0 will be active at the same time.
1. After activating the new Pro version, the 4.0 menu will be located at the top of your menu under ‘Posts’ but before ‘Media’.
2. Navigate to the new settings page and you will see the ‘Update Your Links’ section. Click ‘Update Links’ in this section to import the links from 3.3 into the new 4.0 version.
3. If any links should fail the update, which has been rare in our beta tests, you have two options:
The link ids that failed will be displayed. Should this happen, write down the ids of those links or copy and paste them to a safe location. You can now navigate to the old links page 3.3 version to find which links failed the import to add them into the new 4.0 version.
Delete all the new links from 4.0 under the ‘All Links’ page and try your import again.
4. Once all of the links from the old 3.3 plugin have been imported to the 4.0 version you can deactivate the old 3.3 version. There isn’t a big difference in the backend between the two besides the version of the plugin so please check the version number when deactivating and deleting the 3.3 plugin.
5. Your 3.3 shortcodes should still work with the new 4.0 version, but if you have added any CSS of your own the classes will need to be changed. The class names for each element can be found at the bottom of the documentation page.
As always, if you have any trouble, please email us and we will be happy to help you through the process.
I Have Other Pre-sale Questions, Can You Help?
Of Course. You’re welcome to ask any question you wish from our contact page.
I Set My Grid To 4 Columns and Its Only Showing 3 Columns
All themes are different, some themes have page containers width that are smaller than 100%. This will make the column collapse to the next row. To correct this issue you will have to add custom css. EX: .wplp_link {width:22% !important;} You will have to adjust the % width until the columns fit correctly within the container. EX: .wplp_link {width:22% !important;}
or
.gallery-columns-4 .gallery-item { width: 22% !important;}
Why Aren’t My Custom Images or Screenshots Displaying Properly?
We recommend using images that are 500px width and 348px height.
Can All Users Add a link?
By default only the Admin can add or edit a link but you can change the user roles on the settings page.
How Do I Change The Title
Visit the WP Links Page All Links on the dashboard to add and edit the links. Select edit and just add the new Title in the links display section and update.
Are There Any known Plugin Conflicts?
Unfortunately WordPress is notorious for conflicts between themes and plugins. It is unavoidable as you have no control over what other plugins and themes do. While we do take steps to avoid conflicts as best we can, we have no control over other plugins or themes.
As conflicts are found we will update this list. If you discover a conflict with a another plugin, please notify us.
Here is a list of known plugin conflicts:
None at the moment
